Help me dissect and analyse this quote?

Sounds like someone that has thought long and hard about suicide but just put it into a nice way of saying he's afraid of dieing. He's not actually saying that, he sounds like he's saying the will to live affirms the purpose of ones being and not the emptiness that one could easily step into.
