Is Human life special....?

Life is special. In the grand scheme . . . No creature is more important than another. If humans were of more importance, then there is someone assigning importance, and that person has therefor decided that the destruction of the world's environment was important too. I choose to believe neither. Humans who are ignorant and brutal are just trying to survive the only way they know how to, unfortunately. They aren't any less special than anyone or anything else. Thinking of yourself as more special is dangerous because it automatically puts everyone around you, below you - and then you get racism, bigotry, genocide, hate crimes, slavery etc. And to think of the human species as more special, you put the rest of nature below you - and then you get extinctions, deforrestation and rapid global warming. To think your religion is more special than others results in war and conflict. Surely, either every life is special, or no life is special. Anything else causes tension.
