I'm looking for a small printer in the $20-$50 range, that I can fit on my desk, has relatively cheep ink, and can print a high number of pages per cartridge. Print quality isn't too important. Inside entertainment for Border Collie?

My husband and I just got a 3 year old Border Collie. She is a lot of fun, and I spend a lot of time outside with her playing but I need to get housework done, and our yard isn't fenced in so I don't feel comfortable with her being outside on her own until I know she wont go anywhere. We live on 2 acres down a dirt road that rarely has traffic, and past dogs have never had an issue once they are taught to stay in their yard. The only thing with her is that she is very very active, and I figured maybe giving her a rawhide would keep her occupied while she was in the house but I was wrong she doesn't like them. I have tried different flavored rawhides, or boiling them in chicken broth or putting peanut butter on them. I have tried dentastix, and she doesn't like any of them. Are there any toys or treats you can suggest that would keep her occupied for more then a minute? She has a bunch of different toys but all she wants me to do is throw them and thats hard to do when I am washing dishes!

Profession: Costume Design or Elementary School Teacher?

I am having a hard time deciding which career path I should pursue. I got my BA in Theatre Arts but am considering going back to school for my Master's in Elementary Education for a more secure future and benefits. Costume design would allow me a lot more personal freedom and I really enjoy collaborating with other artists. However, I would probably start out sewing in a costume shop all day for minimum wage, which I have experience doing. I would love to move to California, specifically the LA area, but it is apparently very difficult to find a teaching job there, whereas it would probably be relatively easy to find something in the entertainment industry. The only problem is that I would barely be able to pay the bills in California, working minimum wage. (I was thinking I could also start a side business on Etsy to help with the bills.) I enjoy kids in small doses, but am not sure if I could handle all day disciplining them or the responsibilities of teaching a full class of students, as well as dealing with administrators, parents, testing standards, etc. I guess if I chose costume design, I would be choosing the "starving artist" route, whereas teaching would give me a higher income and more stability (however, the job might be really stressful if I can only find a job in a poor area, or if I have to start out substitute teaching).

Did I make the right decision?

I'm in high school and i met this girl that is about my age while i was camping this summer.It was the 10th year camping with her so i knew her fairly well. You really will want the water parks...after doing the big parks for 2 days in a row everyone will want a break, the water parks are perfect....very fun with only a little walking compared to the big parks, plus the water feels great in the summer heat and you get a killer tan...as for saving money, take sandwiches/fruit in with you when you go to the parks, that'll save quite a bit...and my best tip when doing disney world is --- during the summer the parks are packed, so be standing at the gate (not at ticketing, at the entrance gates) when they open...that'll give you a good couple hours before the place is mobbed...have fun...oh and the same goes for when it's time to close, the last hour the parks get much less crowded...for instance right before they shutdown you may be able to just walk on space mountain with only a 5 minute wait...so plan to stay to the end...if necessary take a few hour break in the middle of the day...have fun.

House sparrow being released?

Hello! Today morning I released a young sparrow, and now I have doubts what I did was right. I hand feed him 19 days (when I got him he was around 3-4 days old), he began to fly one week ago, on Tuesday 21. For the last days I hand reared him every 2 hours, but he also fed on his own... he didn't start to eat big seeds yet. Last three days he was very noisy, and I didn't want him to be closed in an apartment or get used to humans, I also thought he was good in flying. But now that I think back, I truly hope he could find food and other sparrows, and wouldn't miss the syringe. Do you think I should let him go when he would be older and would eat on his own all day long, on your experiences? a also red on the net that sparrows get independent 7- 10 days after they leave the nest (but they leave the nest when they do not yet fly). He also wasn't used of the weather outside, do you think he could find a shelter? And I have one question more..why do you think he was so loud? Even when I fed him he didn't stop cheeping. I don't know exactly how you feel, but I'm pretty much in the same spot. I had 4 kids in 5 years and all of them are big trouble makers. My husband is in the army and hasn't been here for the last nine months. My kids are now 7,5,3,2. It seems that they start being a little better behaved around four years old but starts to get a lot better by five. I still have some issues with behavior though, it feels like they run circles around me sometimes. The key is consistent discipline while they are younger, even if you have to stop what you are doing, or leave a store to accomplish it. When they get older you have heart felt discussions about how their behavior effects you. They will get to the point where they empathize and want to help. My oldest will say, "Mom I know the girls are being bad and you are getting frustrated, what do you want me to do to help?" She is such a sweetheart now, but it is due to the fact that she has learned I don't put up with her crap, and many heart to heart talks. She used to be the worst of all. Oh the stories I could tell. I know it seems sometimes like there is no light at the end of the tunnel when it is 24/7. Keep your head up and fight the good fight. It'll be worth it. Another tip I have is get them involved in the cleaning up. I tell my kids if they can't behave they must need a chore to keep them busy. Even the little ones like taking a wet rag and wiping down the walls. I know yours are still little but they can do something to help mama out. Also I would like to add that they are not too young for discipline. I always start my kids when they are 18 months to two years old. The older they are the harder they are to fight. Let them know who is in charge.

Slow Computer Solutions?

I'm pretty sure I have a "Toshiba Satellite" laptop, or something close to that model. Its about 2 or 3 years old and a few months ago it completely crashed and I had to get a whole new motherboard. I got it fixed at some cheep place at the mall, so that could be contributing to the problem. My mother claims that since the original motherboard crashed, then the laptop will never be the same, I don't completely agree, however. Bottom line is that since I got my laptop back it has been really sensitive and slow. Every time I take I it off the charger, bring into another room, and it moves to suddenly...it crashes. The internet is slow, word is slow, programs are slow...everything is slow! I took all of my unnecessary documents and programs off and I have a Norton protection system. I've ran clean ups and done everything I can think of but nothing is working. I have considered completely reseting it to factory settings but thats my last resort. I have purchased a Vizio 42 LDC, new cheap Blueray player and 2 HDMI cables (Cheapest ones) about 3 months ago. At least once or twice an evening, while watching either Blueray or DTV (both using my HDMI cables to recieve signal), the sound cuts out. it will not come back until I press pause, then play and it is fine again. Could it be my cheep HDMI cables are not keeping up with the sound information? It is a processing problem with my TV. Basically, what component should I take back and get replaced?

How do I stop my 7 in a half month old from being so darn whiny?

Maybe talk to his doctor, but he sounds normal. My first son was a piece of cake (other than him being 13 weeks premature...Now 2yrs old). My second on the other hand is 7 months old (4 months adjusted for prematurity). And he is very whiny also. He gets upset if we walk out of his view. He is also very impatient. He doesn't have any teeth yet. I found out that he has to have a small little blanket and he covers his eyes with it, then he is fine and will go to sleep...I play music at night for him and leave the light on so he will go to sleep. Sometimes it's just trial and error as every child is different. You just have to find what they like and what makes them happy. My fist son did not like to watch tv, but my second does. He loves it when I put him in front of the tv in his bouncer (when I am cleaning or doing something with his brother). I too thought that the older and more independant they are the easier it gets, but that isn't neccessarily true either. When my first started getting old enough to play with his toys he wasn't happy because he wanted me to play with his toys with him. He is two and has finally started playing by himself, but now it's worse because he gets into EVERYTHING! Now im assuming that your son can sit up (mine can't)...But when my first one was little I would put him on the floor and make a circle around him with a ton of toys, so he wouldn't get bored with just one.
